Moose Jaw Judo Club gets off to good start
The Moose Jaw Koseikan Judo Club started off the new season in solid fashion in Melfort recently.

"It was a pretty good tournament for us," sensi (instructor) Cliff Wiens said.

"We took six fighters and four of them placed. They did better than we expected for the first tournament of the year."

Meaghen Cullen led the Moose Jaw club by gaining a silver medal in the junior girls' advanced category. Glen Cullen picked up a bronze in junior boys' advanced, while Jim Wiens won bronze in senior men's heavyweight advanced. Steve Hansen earned a bronze in senior men's middleweight advanced.

Leah Jacobson was fourth in junior girls' novice and Colt Wadstein was fourth in junior boys' novice.

The club also had a grading recently and has several promotions to report.

Juniors promoted from yellow to orange belts include: Vincent Langevin, Hursel McKenna, Tiara Dawm, Danielle Dawm, Meaghen Cullen, Glen Cullen.

Promoted from white to yellow belts: Colt Wadstein, Brock Polupski, Travis Larsen, Kayd Larsen, Leah Jacobson, Max Cranston.

Seniors promoted from yellow to orange belts: Levor Guenther. Promoted from orange to green belts: Steve Hansen, Ken Blandford. Promoted from green to blue belts: Jim Wiens.
